BACKGROUND
STORY

When we were approached in early 2023 to work with the Quebec’s Port Authorities, we knew the collaboration would be a unique opportunity for us to combine our expertise in design thinking and creative problem-solving with their extensive knowledge and influence in the maritime industry.

The project is a collaboration between the three major port authorities of Quebecs province. The Ports authorities of Montréal, Québec and Trois-Rivières are joining forces to solve common challenges related to the protection and management of water on their territories. Together, they are seeking to carry out a demonstration and technological integration project aimed at improving the performance of runoff water quality monitoring techniques in order to create a cleaner and more sustainable future.

All three ports are seeking to obtain water quality monitoring tools that can be deployed directly within their stormwater capture systems. Although functionally similar, each port is geographically and physically different.

The

BRANDING

The visual branding of Canal was carefully crafted to reflect the essence of the event’s focus on water measurement technologies. Inspired by the fluidity and dynamism of water, the branding features a captivating combination of vibrant blue hues and flowing shapes as well as geographic plans of the Ports themselves. The use of wave-like patterns and clean, modern typography creates a sense of movement and innovation.

The logo incorporates a stylized representation of a Canal, symbolizing the event’s mission to explore and advance water measurement technologies. The overall visual identity exudes a sense of progress, collaboration, and the transformative power of ideas, setting the stage for an exciting and impactful outreach.
